Podcast Guest “It's a long road” is the runner and Yoga Instructor Yiannis Athanasiou. With Giannis we will talk about nutrition and exercise and analyze the effect and benefits of yoga on runners.

My guest today is the runner Yiannis Athanasiou. Yiannis, who is a graduate of the Department of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Macedonia, lives and works professionally in Thessaloniki as a Yoga Instructor and is an active amateur runner with a special love for Trail Running.

02:38 If you want to begin, John, tell us a few things about yourself, how did you start running, if you continue to run, how did you start yoga and how did you combine all this together?

04:45 And we go to my first question which is none other than the following: What is yoga?

05:28 Does yoga help runners?

09:07 Does breathing affect running and how does yoga help us here?

18:34 Why do we get injured and what does yoga help us with?

23:50 Can we say that yoga is also a form of recovery after an intense workout or race?

25:20 Is yoga for all ages?

30:55 Yoga or strength training?

33:44 Yoga and Nutrition? Do they have a special relationship with each other?

37:45 How often should a runner do yoga?

39:40 Are there different styles of yoga? Are any of these more specifically for runners?

42:25 In closing, I would like to ask you where and how can someone find you?
